SAGEBRUSH SKIRMISH 2023

Blackfeather Broadsword Academy is proud to once again bring Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) competition to the Prosser Highland Games. This year we are hosting an open Single Stick Tournament followed by a Sword and Buckler Invitational Tournament where podium finishers in both divisions will receive prizes.

The Singlestick Tournament is open to, and aimed at HEMA practitioners that are relatively new to HEMA or HEMA competition. There will be 24 open spots, and weapons will be provided. The top finisher in this tournament will get an invitation to the Sword and Buckler Tournament.

The Sword and Buckler Tournament will be filled with HEMA 15 practitioners from across the region that are experienced HEMA fighters and one from the Singlestick tournament. Weapons will be fight what you bring with some limitations on both sword and buckler. (If the Singlestick fighter does not have the required gear, we will get them sorted.)

We are planning for a fast, pool style tournament format that optimizes fights and minimizes standing around time. Specific Rules for the two divisions will be available soon, and this page will be updated as information becomes available.

Sunday after the event there will be a Social held at Blackbird Training Group's Dojo in Kennewick from 10am to 2pm. It will be a Potluck style Lunch with friendly sparring and merrymaking to be had by all. There will be a BBQ available.

We will announce suggestions for lodging, and specifics for registration in the coming months. Any questions, please feel free to message Blackbird Training Group, James Epperly, or Lamont Glass.
